THE PROCESS.
HOW TWEEDIE CREATES HER WEARABLE ART.
ARTISTS MATERIALS.
I gather a variety of materials including acrylic paints and inks to make the artwork. Colourful is the aim of the game.

A PIECE OF ART IS CREATED.
Usually whilst listening to some music I begin painting or throwing ink about and a painting is created. I also create more delicate 'doodle' sketchbook pages to use or take photos of anything that catches my eye.

PHOTOSHOP EDIT.
I'll then photograph the artwork I have created and edit it on photoshop, usually this is actually the stage that takes the longest. I will edit out backgrounds, enhance colours and create a seamless repeat pattern tile ready for printing.

DIGITAL PRINTING.
The precious finished file is then upload to a online printing company, the scale decided and then an order made. The company I use is very environmentally conscious, they use minimal amounts of water and packaging, offer a variety of sustainable and recycled fabrics for printing (I mostly use organic cotton) and they only start making items once they are ordered.

OR FABRIC COLLAGED.
If I'm making a patchwork jacket instead however I lay out all the fabrics I have in stock which are mostly discontinued upholstery fabric swatch books. I then select the colours that go well together and start positioning them into a fabric collage. Each section of the jacket is laid out in this way, making sure they all work together. The different patches are sewn together pressed and trimmed to fit the jacket pattern pieces.

CAREFUL CONSTRUCTION.
Then the sewing can begin. Starting with the patch pocket with secret mini pockets within, and then the quilting of the plain coloured fabric on the reverse side. Two jacket 'shells' are then made, a zip attached and then both sides are sewn together, finishing with a topstitch.
